India and Venezuela Thursday discussed "forging an energy partnership" and entering into "long-term contracts" as Delcy Rodriguez, on her first trip to India after becoming Acting President of her country, held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Rodriguez took charge of Venezuela after President Nicolas Maduro was abducted by US forces in a military operation in January this year.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday hailed Moscow's strategic partnership with New Delhi and asserted that Western attempts to force India into scaling back its cooperation with Russia are futile and damaging to global stability.

The IMD on Thursday announced the onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala, marking the beginning of the four-month long season. The normal onset date is June 1, with a deviation of seven days. This year, the onset has been realised three days after the normal date, IMD said.

Foxconn said Thursday it will work with US chipmaker Intel to jointly develop and deploy next-generation AI infrastructure and intelligent computing platforms in a move to capture booming demand for Al computing systems. Taiwan's Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, said in a statement that the partnership would combine Intel's chip technology with Foxconn's manufacturing and system-building expertise.

Microfinance institutions' non-performing assets (NPAs) may witness a marginal increase in FY27 as lenders normalise their write-off policies, according to a report. The asset quality of microfinance institutions (MFIs) is expected to have witnessed improvement in FY26, with NPAs likely to have declined, according to the report by CareEdge Advisory.
